Age of Conversation Goes Amazon.com

03/29/2008

Age_of_conversation_bum_rush The book that was written by 103 global authors last summer is now part of amazon.com listings. Previously available only on Lulu a presence on amazon.com provides an opportunity for increased awareness and distribution.

Bloggy disclaimer - I am honored to be one of the authors of Age of Conversation. That said, I wanted to bring you some of the back story. All profits are being donated to the Variety Children's Charity. No one will profit from sales of the book.  For me Age of Conversation is a tangible example of the power of connection and relationship building that is a direct result of social media networking. This book could never have happened without the tools that are creating "conversational marketing."

From the view point of a reader, the breadth of global insights about the emerging industry - social media marketing (yes, social media marketing is an industry!) - are fascinating and bring home that all over the world social media is not only impacting a change in marketing but in how we will/are beginning to conduct business .. which makes this book an important read for every business person who wants to understand why the future is Now and why there is no turning back.

Praise from book marketing strategist Warren Whitlock -

Not only are the authors each experts in their own right, they have used best practices in creating a wonderful example of publishing done right.

I, along with my 102 colleagues, cordially invite you to join us on this exciting adventure into social media marketing or conversational marketing .. where if you listen closely you'll hear answers to your questions about your brand that you never thought to ask.

I would love your feedback on my chapter - "Technology is Recreating Business Intimacies." Age of Conversation on amazon.com. AoC is an easy read and would be a great book to take along on your next trip .. biz .. or if you're lucky .. pleasure.

Toby

The book has already brought me one great benefit. I've found your radio program and made a connection to you.

The quick response to my Amazon review of your book is proof that you "get it"

I know you will continue to do well with this.

Great write up, Toby. It is great that even with AoC 2 in our sights, there is still great excitement around AoC 1! Thanks.

Toby, I was not going to buy this book since Amazon is now strong-arming POD publishers to ONLY use its POD printer, Booksurge... telling POD publishers it will NOT carry their books, otherwise.

But, I see this book is by Lulu, a very BIG POD publisher, and since YOU are in it....it's a must have. I will hop over and buy it now. In support of you, and all the other bloggers...

But, it's the last book I buy at Amazon until they come to their senses. Bullying small press publishers to use their printing service is just wrong. A number of authors from Publish America have had the 'buy' button turned off, already.

Glad all the great bloggers in the book used POD, though. Way to go!!!

TOby - I love this idea of collaboration. And since I am a podcaster at heart, I would like to figure out a way to get the chapters read into audio format.

If I set up a call in and record number, would you be interested in reading your chapter aloud so I can podcast it and spread the word? You and I can experiment and then we can see about getting the other authors involved.

I envision a brief 2-3 minute opening interview with you, then you or I could read the ensuing chapter. Close it off with how to buy the full book on Amazon.

Whadya think?

Thanks for the heads up. I've heard a lot about conversational marketing via social media networks, but nothing concrete. Well, here is the book - one that I will pick up right now. I've been looking for just this.
