What Does Social Media Mean To You? With Jay Berkowitz, Kasia Szewcyk, Scott Milinder, Dana VanDen Heuvel

01/21/2008

What Does Social Media Mean To You? is a continuing video series of Little Sound Bites of thought, insight and fun. Perhaps you'll be on the little Flip video next time we meet!

Thoughts from a few of the people who attended the American Marketing Association's Hot Topic Workshop on Social Media Marketing in Miami this month. For Dana and Jay, who have clocked several years in the space, it's an evolution of customer communication and an opportunity to have it your way. For Kasia and Scott who are taking their first entree into social media, it is a new environment where they can interact, sort of hang out with customers and prospects .

As Thomas Friedman has been saying the world is flat. Social sites like face book & my space are just making it even more so allowing us to gain more insight into each others cultures. On the business side it has been allowing us to use these cultural norms to market our businesses. I have been using a combination of the social sites & a software called Glyphius to create high conversion ads. Glyphius is giving me a statistical edge on copy write by comparing my ads against some of the most popular. I am looking at the market demographic on sites like my space & face book and writing my ads to appeal to segments of these target markets. So far so good. Thanks Diva

Sarah,
I have never heard of Glyphius before. Thanks for the info!

Before today, I had never even thought of social media. Previously, someone enlightened me to using podcasts for marketing. That is amazing and modern. I will have to look into that. I have been using artemis pro to submit several variations of the same article without having to rewrite them and also without being penalized for duplicate content. Keep up the good work, I will check back on this.

Poor Dana! His Packers lost. (Kidding, but I had to rub it in once more.)

I think this is the first time I've commented on your blog, Toby, but I love it!
