Amazing....probably released without the knowledge of senior management by a summer intern who forgot to go back to school in the fall; well, at least they won't have to develop a training curriculum...just attend their own seminars.

AMA- "customer" is not a four-letter word. Just thought you should know.

One thing that stands out to me is at least the got the proportions right.

Looking at the photo says, sure, there may be new "tricks" (which I disagree with...but that's a much longer discussion) but obviously, there's no way the "customer" in that picture is going through the hoop.

Chances are, given the use of "tricks" to get them to jump through the hoop, the "customer" will end up eating the "marketer" alive.

Good catch. I read that thinking "who the hell are they selling this idea to?" Really, you're kidding, right?

But I think it's less scandalous than I first thought. In reality, unless marketers are opening up, getting ethical and transparent and finding some customer/citizen religion - they're always going to have this issue with the hoops. The AMA is really just reporting on what marketers (who don't yet get it) are struggling with.

Where the whole thing breaks down is inside the issue where there's not much help for marketers who want to get out of the circus and shun the hoops...

Well, at least there's hope for next year:)
