Just a minor update, Toby - since my coauthor, David Teten, will be chairing “The New Communication Channels: Business Blogs, Social Software, and the Virtual Handshake” Dec. 1-2, I'll be taking his place at the New York session discussing social networking.

In particular, I'll be looking at how sales and marketing people at large companies can effectively reach small businesses using networking sites and related tools.

They are missing much more than just search marketing. What about all the other forms of marketing? Direct response / mail / infomercials - Outdoor advertising. The power of catalogs, etc - there is so much more to a marketing campaign, and so many more topics they could cover. I try to touch on a different marketing topic in my business marketing blog constantly.

Wiliam, AMA offers a wide variety of professional development programs that address other marketing issues http://www.marketingpower.com. Although search is not on the their current offers, it would be an excellent workshop. And I'm betting 360i can suggest a pretty good speaker or two!

Thanks for all the suggestions. The goal of this particular AMA event is to look at "new media" and how marketers can take advantage of some of the latest developments. Its focus is online emerging media channels. We had the unfortunate task of narrowing down the focus to fit a one day event. Search and other media is being well covered with their own events so we thought it did not make much sense to include that at this point.
