My blog bud, Elana Centor of Funny Business, is vlogging. Her first vlog highlights bead artist Kim Gernsbacher Swiler. Now that's just like Elana to use her first vlog to help others...bloggers are the nicest people.

Kim uses vintage, Mardi Gras glass beads in her work. Mardi_gras_glass_beadsSome of her signature pieces are being auctioned on eBay with 100% of the $ given back to Habit for Humanity International.

All sorts of creative ways to raise much needed $ for the hurricane people. Marketing organizations are even getting into the act. MarketingSherpa has a list of groups that are offering to help business people get back on their feet.

It's great that people want to help. Considering the daily challenges charities face, it must be difficult to organize fund-raising efforts that will financially sustain a charity for the future. Some charities may hold bake sales when they need to raise some funds, but who has the time and resources to organize such an event on an ongoing basis?

A charity needs an ongoing income, but I seriously doubt that they have time to organize that. So what about using an automated fund raising method like the one described at http://www.fund-raising.ws/ ?

It follows the general idea behind bake sales, that people would choose to buy something from you in order to benefit your charity, with the following differences:

1. You don't have to produce, obtain, or stock any goods or perform services yourself.
2. You don't have to set up and attend to a marketplace to sell goods.
3. People you sell to can be any where in the world.
4. What you sell are services and products that people around the world already use.
5. People may save money and receive better products and services by buying from you.
6. People use the services you sell month after month, year after year, and your charity continues to receive a commission for having sold it.
7. People know that they are benefiting your charity as they continue using the service they bought from you, helping them remember to buy from you again when they need another service or product, or they want to replace the one they're using.
8. Income would be small at first, but will grow as people continue using the services you sold, even while you sell more services.

Does this makes sense to you?
