New Free Ping Service
07/02/2005
Ping. ping. ping. went the trolley. Ding. ding. ding. went my hits. Okay, I so like old musicals and Cole Porter too by the way. It's a diva's right to be a little off center sometimes.
But I digress. This post was suppose to be about a new free ping service that my pal Cary from Cancer NewsWatch found on Fred On Something. Cary thinks it's better than Ping-O-Matic.
Sidebar: Cancer NewsWatch is a wonderful heartful* blog with good information and resources and the support of a caring and kind guy. *There are business blogs, and personal blogs and newsletter blogs and blogs that aggregate information and thought leadership and CEO blogs. Yes, character blogs too. Well, there are also from the heart blogs.
Hey Fred, you really should give "it" a name. Perhaps Ping on Fred or Fred's Ping or Fred on Ping. Ever notice that new services frequently get left in the cold when it comes to creating an identity/name? Rarely happens in product development. Those R&D people put a name on stuff right from the start.
To give this a marketing slant ... think about the viral opportunity that Fred's Free Ping Service has missed out on. Not only would it be lots easier to talk about on blogs and WOM but the Fred's loosing a bit of Google juice too. How about the Free Ping Service that Cary Found That Was Created by Fred? Nope. too long.
Sidebar: For bloggers who are new to pings. Pings are simply little notices that are sent to the blog search engines when you update your blog. According to my search friends the blog engines (Technorati, Feedster, SubPub, etc.) don't spider or index like traditional search engines (Yahoo or Google). You have to knock on their doors. Hello anyone home...I just added a new post. Some blog platforms like Typepad will automatically ping some of the engines but not all. As tho you don't have enough to do....add pinging to your blog writing To Do List.
