Blogger Story Teller: Wendy Maynard, Marketing Maven, Kinetic Ideas: A Marketing Blog
So, what is a Maven, anyway? Well, the American Heritage Dictionary says a maven is: a person who has special knowledge or experience; an expert. Personally though, I prefer the definition found in the Princeton University’s WordNet: someone who is dazzlingly skilled in any field.
And although I could tell you these definitions are the reasons I decided to call myself the Marketing Maven, I think what it really boils down to is my childhood dream of being Wonder Woman. Since I couldn’t very well run around as an adult calling myself by a superhero name, I picked the next best thing - a semi-adult version if you will. You see, I like to have fun. And I try not to take myself too seriously.
As the Marketing Maven, I write a blog called Kinetic Ideas. My blog is specifically about marketing. I wanted to provide a venue for small business owners and entrepreneurs to learn more about how to effectively promote their companies.
I also wanted to provide an outlet for me to express all of the ideas I have floating around in my head. A blog is an addiction, really. The more I write, the more I have to say…
For me, blogging has a small direct return on investment from AdSense revenue and affiliate links. As an indirect ROI, though, the exposure is immeasurable. It gives me the opportunity to connect with people like you. And, it offers potential customers and joint venture partners a chance to get to know me better before we’ve ever had a conversation.
Plus, Babs (my mom) pops in from time to time to make a surprise comment. And I can’t really put a price on that!
